Identify The Symptoms Of Unresolved Trauma In Relationships
According to clinical psychologist Sabrina Romanoff, emotional baggage means a person has some unresolved emotional issues, pain, sufferings and challenges that still occupy his/her mental space and impact their current relationships.
Some of the signs of Unresolved Trauma
According to Dr Romanoff, there are some warning signs that you need to look out for in terms of identifying unresolved traumas. For instance,
i) Skeptical & suspiciousness
The person will be highly sceptical and have a lack of trust in his/her relationships. This is one of the main indicators that the person has some unresolved traumas. It could be their previous relationships that were terrible and, because of that experience, the person is expecting similar kinds of happenings in their present relationships.
Any traumatic experience in the past can cause stress and trust issues in the present relationships. For this reason, the person might be emotionally unavailable and have commitment issues with their current partners.
ii) Anxiousness and paranoia
A person with past traumatic experiences can feel paranoia and if the issues remain unresolved it can be dreadful for them in the long run. They might even think by being paranoid they are protecting themselves from any painful experiences or being hurt again. But in reality, they are just missing out on the opportunities to make new memories in their present.
It is not a bad thing to be cautious and guarded but excessive paranoia causes a lot of stress, anxiety and conflicting situations in personal relationships.
iii) Anger and agitation
The unresolved traumas can cause the person to replay their traumatic experiences most of the time. This eventually prevents them from forming new relationships and involving themselves in new experiences.
