Establishing personal and emotional boundaries is essential to maintain any respectful and mutually supportive connections. In other words, our boundaries are a reflection of our self-worth.

Our boundaries establish the parameters for acceptable behaviour from other people around us. Boundaries also prevent us from tolerating any unacceptable behaviour from anyone.

  • Identify your main priorities

To save your precious time and energy, it’s important you clearly define your priorities. You can even make a list. Based on your lifestyle and personal preferences, you can do a comparison of which things should be your high priority.

  • State your boundaries clearly

It’s important to let people straightforwardly know about your boundaries. You can’t show people any flakiness in terms of maintaining your boundaries. People won’t respect your boundaries if you are not clearly stating them.

  • Accept that you don’t have to be a people-pleaser
